Now for my review-This book had a lot of great information that was broken down into really funny chapters with titles like: Instant Human. Just Add Coffee. If At First You Don’t Succeed…Then Skydiving IS NOT for You. Very Funny, Scotty. Now Beam Up My Clothes.Linamen spent the entire book basically spelling out for people things that we already know and yet have a hard time putting into words or practice. For example, the first of the 52 Amazing Ways to Master the Art of Personal Change is: Learn from the Past. Now how many of us have heard that before? But I enjoyed the down to earth way that Linamen made her points. She spoke truthfully, from her heart and used real examples that any woman could understand and appreciate. One of the funniest things she shared was how she broke her snacking habit. As a writer, she often snacked from a bowl beside her computer but she wanted to quit – so she put small dog biscuits in the bowl. You can only imagine how many times it took her popping a doggy treat in her mouth to figure out that she didn’t want to be eating while she worked anymore!!
Here are some of my favorite quotes: "It’s one thing to realize that, at this very moment, something in your life happens to be amiss. It’s another thing altogether to wake up next week to a life that is transformed and fulfilling.” I can tell you exactly what’s in the middle: between dissatisfaction and transformation:VISION.” “If we can it, there’s a good chance, we can figure out how to it.” “You can change your life in a heartbeat, which is how long it can take to make a single decision.” “You can’t always change your circumstances. At least not immediately. But change just one element …and everything can shift.” “But no matter what, as you work on you, it’s going to change your perspective of your circumstances, the impact of your circumstances on your emotions, and very possibly even your very circumstances themselves. BUT IT STARTS WITH YOU.” (Caps mine) “As long as we insist on comfort, we forfeit change.” “When sorrows are holding us back, we can do one of two things. We can hang on to those sorrows, or we can present then, like sacrifices, to God, letting Him take those sorrows and resurrect them as new life and new hope.” "Like Yoda told Luke, “Do. Or not do. There is no try.” “You and I can have the best intentions in the world, but if we’re too fat, weak, fatigued, or self-medicated on junk food to feel energetic, we’re going to have a tougher time creating positive change in our lives.”
Last she encouraged us to dream the big dreams, the impossible dreams for our lives and gave us this quote from the movie Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland..."I can’t believe that!" said Alice. "Can't you?" the Queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes." Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." "Go ahead, believe the impossible. After all, anything can happen, remember? There are surprises around the corner. Good ones. I promise."
