Fusion
I finished ready Fusion: Turning First-Time Guests into Fully-Engaged Members of Your Church by Nelson Searcy last week. This is a great book with lots of tried and tested ideas. If you are a usher, greeter, or work on our connection team we want you to read this book. I ordered 10 Sunday night and hope to have them available by Sunday. Here are a few quotes and comments from the book...
- "How you respond when you've been given a gift-and what you do with the gift itself-proves just how much you really appreciate it." - Every guest that comes through our doors is a gift from God and should be treated as such.
- "Assimilation is simply well-planned biblical hospitality through service."
- "The more prepared a church is to receive guests, the more guests it receives."
- "In the first seven minutes of contact with your church, your first-time guests know whether or not they are coming back."
- "Reach rather than reclaim."
- "Never try to do more with fewer people."
- Ask yourself this question, If God sent you twice as many first-time guests as usual this week, would you be ready for them?
- "When you start intentionally preparing yourself to receive first-time guests, with a heart bent on prayer and an eye set on excellence, you will start receiving them."
There is a lot more I could say here but I don't want to give out to much. Much of the book is about application.
I am so excited about the future of our Ministry of Helps and Connection Team ministry. This book is going to help us raise our standards and take care of our guests with passion, a caring spirit, and with excellence.
I'M LOOKING FOWARD TO READING THIS BOOK.
